Birthdays are for Giveaways!!

Tomorrow is my Birthday.

Somehow, birthdays just aren't as exciting as they used to be........anyone else relate to that?

I decided to make it a little more fun and have a giveaway.  I was planning on announcing it several days ago and actually drawing the winners on my birthday.

Except I forgot about it until today.

Must be my old age.
(ha. I'm only turning 34 and I refuse to think of that as old.)

Obviously there isn't much time for people to enter before tomorrow.....so I've decided to
draw the winners on Monday, April 16th at noon.  They'll be announced soon after that.

Nothing like extending the birthday fun!

Oh, I guess you want to know what the prize is.

I'm keeping it simple:

I will give away TWO $10 Amazon gift certificates (to 2 different people) that you can use towards whatever you want.  How's that?

To Enter:  Leave a comment -  Telling me what you would choose for your Birthday Dessert('Cause I've been deliberating mine for this year for awhile now and can't wait to make it!  It's a creation involving several recipes and it should be really over the top. )

If you don't eat dessert - just tell me your favorite birthday dessert as a kid.

And if you didn't like dessert as a kid, I'm afraid we can't be friends.

Just kidding.

Any sort of nice comment will do.

One Entry per person.

Good luck!!

  1. well - being the first comment-er, I probably won't win, but being OLD and all ;-) I'd forget to come back tomorrow and wish you a happy birthday, so I'll just go ahead and be first :-)
    Happy Birthday, precious girl!!

Blueberry dessert is always a favorite. As is Ambrosia Pie (there's always leftovers of this, since I double the recipe :-) in my youth I often picked German Chocolate Cake. I could just eat the icing and skip the cake ;-) Baked Alaska Pie is a hit with the whole family, but I usually don't pick it. Hot fudge cake is probably what I choose most often.... Banana splits are yummy, too!

Your desserts sound really good - and I'm with you, the German Chocolate Cake icing is the best part!

  2. my favorite birthday dessert is actually a storebought frozen hershey's pie (guilty smile). it's delicious and attractive and luke can buy it and therefore be the hero by taking care of birthday dessert allbyhimself :D Luke's favorite (i mention it in an attempt to redeem myself), however, IS homemade - chocolate chip pound cake.

    1. Way to let your husband take care of you! If I let Grant take care of the dessert, he'd buy a chocolate cake from Costco. It's his favorite. Don't get me wrong, I think it's a great cake....but I just like to make my own. :)

  4. For my last birthday I made a chocolate peanut butter layer cake. It was deeeelicious! When I was younger though, we were all about the costco mousse layer cakes :-)

  5. Nathan used to love German Chocolate too! (He's so much like his older sister!)
Right now my favorite dessert is pavlova. It's super easy (think baked meringue)and I top it with thick whipped cream and whatever fruit I have. Plus I always have the egg whites left after making ice cream. They make a good pair - one I get to eat that night and the other is for the next day.

    Happy Birthday!!

  6. oh - happy birthday! You and my MIL share the same birthday :)

This year I opted for whole wheat carrot zucchini cake with cream cheese frosting. YUM. But, we usually have a white cake, lemon curd filling, whipped cream "frosting" and fresh raspberries. Whatever you decided, I'm sure it was wonderful.

  7. My birthday is coming up soon. I used to always request a German Chocolate cake when my mom was alive. She would double the icing! Yum! Turtle cake is also wonderful. As you can tell, we love chocolate!
Hope you had a wonderful birthday!

  10. Since my birthday is on Saint Patricks day, I like choosing something with green in it. My favorite kind of ice cream is mint chocolate chip and I also love chocolate. So, I would choose a three layer dark chocolate mint chocolate chip ice-cream cake! My mom has made this before and it is sooooooo delicious! It also has dark chocolate hershey bars melted on the top of it:) very naughty, but good!
